The Colloquium “Mine-Worker Women in Bolivia”, which took place on December 8 in La Paz city, was a space for reflection and analysis on the work of women miners in Bolivia. The Socioeconomic Base Line of Mine-Worker Women in Bolivia document was presented in the event, as well as testimonies from mining women from the gold sector, traditional mining, womens organizations and the emerging sector of a new mining in the Bolivian East with the presence of women.
The socio-economic baseline has allowed us to analyze information on the state of women in mining work in Bolivia, integrating daily living dimensions, such as access and quality of housing, basic services provision, education level, cultural identity, prevalent diseases, access to health services, social security, position at work, income, organizational aspects, gender situation and other basic information supplemented with information of a demographic nature.
This meeting aims to ensure that the State, the organizations of cooperating countries and other institutions related to the gender issue are sensitized and that alliances can be generated to overcome the great inequality gaps that affect women miners.
